What is happening when you try to 'stop in a hurry'?

I'm surprised that with standard brakes you can't lock the wheels up at any speed.

If the wheels are locking i.e. ABS is kicking in, then the brakes are fine and upgrading them won't help.

Usually big brake kits don't improve stopping power - rather they tend improve the cooling so that your brakes are less likely to fade - for example when racing.

i have had the same feeling in my compressor the brakes dont neccaserly lock but you feel the car is going to just keep going but ussually does stop but you dont have the confidence or feel that it will .suppose the best solution would be to go slower that might help :yahoo:

I changed mine recently, got Nitrac 12 grooved front discs with greenstuff pads! and on the rear just had Blue Print rear standard discs (avaiable from fensport) with greenstuff pads! A BIG IMPROVEMENT!

Pads bite better and don't fade as bad as standard Toyota pads. Nitrac Front discs are good after you bed them in, had a bit of judder through them for the first 2k miles! I honestly recommend changing discs to Black Diamond, 3G or Nitrac will help, add some greenstuff or redstuff pads and then you'll be pealing your face off the windscreen! Thats my opinion!

Thanks lads - i tried the RiceRocket site and could only get fronts.

I was going to get the green pads, my breaking style is smooth and off so you dont feel the braking much, would i be better off with green or red?

Think i might get the rossini discs then, just need to find out how much the local mech will chage for fitting them.

I ve found that my Compressor ABS kicks in all the time, never had a problem stopping, i obviously leave it way late to brake. Still on the original pads and disc nearly 11000 miles later though

Hello I managed 22,000 on my originals.Just thought Iwould try some thing differant. So I have fitted ROSSINI front and rear

with RED STUFF pads and have found that the wheel's stay alot cleaner and that my braking is also a lot smoother.I understand

that there are cheaper DISCS & PADS out there but why RISK your car.

I was just wondering if anyone has fitted the steel braided flexible brake hoses to their TSport yet ?

I fitted them (along with DOT 5.1 fluid) to my MR2 turbo and the difference in pedal feel was amazing .

It made me realise that when I had the standard rubber brake hoses it felt like I had a balloon

between my foot and the pedal , very spongy in comparison (as the standard TSport feels).

I want to fit them to the TSport but i'm unsure how the ABS will respond to them , has anyone got any

experience with steel brake hoses and ABS ? :?

I also think the TSport brakes suffer from the pads being knocked back into the calliper because a

quick dab on the brake pedal before braking proper is needed , makes them alot more effective .

Thanks
