Uk Celica Gt 94-99 Engine

Sump

Does anyone know if the UK Celica GT 94-99 engine would be too "strained" doing:

Up to - 5000 rpm - 1st

Up to - 4000 rpm - 2nd

(from standing)

on a number of occasions during say a 30 minute drive (on appropriate roads & and conditions of course). I'm just trying to gauge what this engine is like in relation to this kind of driving. Is this too harsh on a well-maintained mid-90's GT engine or can it comfortably cope?

Thanks

I can't give expert advice but I don't see why it would be as long as it is properly warmed up. It is designed to rev high and has a rev limiter at 7200 to protect it. 4-5k is where it works best. (peak torque at 4800). As long as you maintain it well and warm it up properly, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't give you years of fun.

fuel cut kicks in at engine damage levels , so bang away . :arrgg-matey:

the 3sge dont begin to move till at least 4500 rpm anyways - lazy gearbox.

Just stay away from the red line in 1st to conserve your clutch and gearbox

red line in 1st is plain stupidity anyhow. sump take all gears after 1st to the red line , but as mentioned gearbox will take a hammering as will engine to a degree.

Thanks guys - My impressions so far of the gears after less than 1 weeks ownership:

1st gear - excellent - love the surge/power/acceleration and the roar - very impressive

2nd gear - good - very nice dropping into 2nd on a roundabout then nipping off quick-time, etc, etc

3rd gear - competent/good- has plenty of leg-room for coming onto a motorway etc, etc

4th gear - competent

5th gear - ok, bit flat - but nice cruiser on the motorway

Generally, I'm extremely pleased with the performance and th car, particularly the first 3 gears
