If Starting The Engine Radio Reboots.

Hi,

I have exchanged the standard radio head with a aftermarket one. Connected the new radio / nav system with a Toyo ISO lead and all is working fine.

When having the key in the first click (ACC) you can program the route, listen to radio and watching DVD. But then when starting the Engine the Radio goes off and starts again. So i made a delay system in the Red cable (switched 12v ACC) to over come this power interrupt. This is build around a 4700uf and a 1n4001 diode. This works fine since if you remove the key the Radio keeps playing for about 5 seconds.

But now the problem... The Radio still goes off when starting the engine! I had a Volt meter on the Yellow and Red cable but they keep voltage of around 11volt when starting the engine. I even had both Yellow and Red connected to gether and the Radio still reboots when starting the Engine. This is also the same with the standard Toyo Radio head so it's NOT the new Radio Nav system.

Any one knows a solution since it's very anoying.

Thanks,

bt

Hi bt

I can't help but think that you are momentarily losing voltage as you crank the engine especially if it did it with the old radio head.

Try running a wire directly from the Battery to the radio and loop the yellow and red together so as to keep the feed and memory energised. Maybe the voltage is lost as you turn the key (faulty ignition switch) but it should help the diagnosis.

Good luck

yeah, found some interesting info on the rav 4 oz site Rav4OZ to make a fat B) wire directly from the Battery since sub bass bins are the next project ;) and those toyo wires will frie if i need to feed all those amps.

i suspect that toyo is disconnecting some where the power when cranking the engine :censor:

thx,

bt

I have the same with my SatNav unit. Cannot start the engine when the SatNav is working.

When i do the SatNav will be stressed and not power off complete.

My mechanic put the switched wire from the ACC to the IGN connection but same problem.

Can also be the Battery, this is the same as in a Yaris so its small. Maybe change it for a stronger one from a diesel.
