Had a awfull turn of events on wednesday.

I dont know really what happened or why, the car just just went mad and slipped into a post. I haven;t been well for the past 3 weeks so i gather that had something to do with it.

I drove to chelmsford toyota the next day to get a quote. Turns out that they no longer even do quotes so i had to drive back to laindon to the lookers bodyshop. I'm still waiting on a reply through the post but the man said you are probably looking at about £1800 to fix it. And that a new door sill will have to be welded on. :fear::eek:

Its all really heartbreaking. I cant beleive it. 6 years of driving and nothing bad has happened. Not only that but i can now see dirt where the side skirt was.

Looks nasty, feel for ya mate. Glad you are ok though.

The car just can't 'slip' into a post though can it???!

unlucky mate

if you can, try an go to a scrap yard and get it done your self if it involves loosing your no claims...

dont seem too bad...just a door, mirror and you might get away with covering the sill with a new skirt...

try 1stchoice spares website for the parts...

I think it needs to be done professionally..........................particularly the sill......................just covering it with a new skirt is really not an option.

I hope you get it sorted OK

The car "went mad and slipped into a post"???

Do you really think we are that stupid?

I'd have more respect for you if you told us what really happened...

That is a bit harsh TVOR...............................Dom did say that he had not been well for 3 weeks and that may well have contributed.

He simply made a misjudgement and paid the price for it.

Please do not let this thread develop into a "judgemental kangaroo court with personal comments" or it will be closed.

Bit keen aren’t you Mr New Moderator?

That’s my opinion. I will sympathise with anyone who has damaged their car

If someone posts a picture of a bump but blames the car then you have to expect other comments and thoughts apart from the sympathy vote.

It would be nice to hear the facts behind the incident.

If you want to threaten closer of this thread just because someone doesn’t actually agree with you or the majority and you want to flex your ‘New Muscles’ then be my guest

I fully agree with you TVOR, It would be nice to hear the facts behind the incident......................Although It may not be in the interests of Dom to state these on a public forum. He did say that he didn't know what happened.

I , like other moderators do not wish these forums to degenerate into a "judgemental kangaroo court with personal comments"

It is not a case of being "a Bit keen" or flexing my"New Muscles".......................morelike requesting forum members not to be too judgemental without being in posession of the full details.

We could all unfortunately find ourselves in Doms situation at some time or other during our motoring lifetime and may wish to share the experience with others. A little sympathy from fellow club members would be helpful at these times

Yes Red Yaris 54, it would be nice to hear the facts behind the incident but unfortunately the originator of the thread decided not to publish them.

This will inevitably lead to speculation and judgment due to not having all the facts.

The only facts we have are photographic evidence of the incident and a statement from the driver that and I quote:

“the car just went mad and slipped into a post”

The forum isn’t degenerating into a kangaroo court with personal comments, this type of post by Dom will breed the comments you are concerned about so maybe you should threaten to remove the original thread and not the comments it generates.

I feel you are trying to make an issue when there isn’t one.

My original question was that I would like to know what really happened, but just saying that the “car went mad” doesn’t cut it with me.

It would be a very boring place if everyone had to agree by the opinions of the Mods which [it seems] you are trying to put into effect.

Now that’s the sort of comment that SHOULD be stamped on, antagonising goading and prodding, but alas it’s not to be :!Removed!:

:ermm: Any chance we can get back to the topic as it was guys

play nice

You never know he may come back with more information on what happened to him,

with all the rain we have been having and still are having:crybaby: the roads are very slippy at the moment.

Ferrariboy -

That looks nasty, i feel for you and i'm glad you did not get hurt.

Please get it repaired properly as the sill is part of the safety of the car,

if something else happened and you had another accident in that area it would just collaspe if not repaired properly.

Hope your feeling better too.

sorry to hear about your accident , cant imagine how you feel, were there any contributing factors, like wet/greasy roads after long dry spell, near a petrol station where diesel could have been spilled, hope you can get it fixed soon by a good bodyshop .

Lets consolidate, they will know what they've done wrong. No need to point it out.

I'm a believer of what goes around comes around!

I regret that you feel that I was trying to assert my opinion on you TVOR...............................I would of course never attempt to influence your actions.......................but mearly request that you are not so judgemental of our member when he is obviously rather upset by what happened to his car.

In time................(when he feels good and ready) he may well answer your question....................but for the time being I feel that your remarks are out of order, especially when associated with the question.........."Do you really think we are that stupid?"

[bTW...........I am taking notes..............we can all learn a lot from Kimi]
