Hey Chatman,

Decided to bite the bullet with the wind deflectors and go for the Toyota OEM ones. held on with a combination

of 3M tape and a couple of steel clips. Turned out neater than I thought.

Cheers,

Dave.

Grandad mirrors ?

actually, started using these when I had a bit of neck trouble (spondy something or other) and I have to say they have saved my a*se a couple of times from maniacs at slip roads etc. Anyway you will notice that are modified to do away with brackets and other gubbins (cant get away from this engineering stuff).

Cheers,

Dave. (also going to need tyres)

If you look close enough you can see your silhouette in it....

I know what you mean...just briefly the blind spot B) I can loose a transit van just enough to miss.....always use the over shoulder look first...feel the drivers mirror does not go out enough and click's when it gets to it's limit....

Compared to the wife's 206cc postage stamp mirrors..she says mine are like truck mirrors or shrek ears as my daughter said the other day ;) ;)

They are "Blind Spot" mirrors

And rumour has it that they will become compulsory in the not too distant future. I've had them on every car I've ever owned and wouldn't be without them.

Considering the wind deflectors myself; what was the cost and are they easy enough to fit?

Steve

Steve, glad you like them, these are the Toyota OEM ones, I had the Climair ones on a previous car and did not like them.

With the VAT they were £55, the instructions tell you that they can be fitted in 15 mins which is just about right. To start

with you have to clean the door frame with some thing alcoholic (smirnoff black ?). You then hold up the deflector and

roughly mark the posotion of the small hole for the bracket/ clip with a felt pen. You then peel back the window rubber

a bit and slide the small steel clip in (no drilling the clip is held on by the rubber) there are 2 clips per side. Next get a

hairdryer and heat the door frame a bit. Peel back the tape from deflector and position on door frame and press flat.

Run hairdryer along outside edge again to help the adhesive tape to bond. Ther are a couple of little plastic rivets to press

into holes in clips, and jobs done. Be careful not to scratch the perspex when fitting.

Re the blind spot mirrors, Iv'e had them on a lot of my cars and would not be without them. I dont know why Toyota cant

put a curved mirror in like others do. As I said I dont like the stick on ones, these are the type with bracket. Basically all

I did was cut the bottom half off which left the stem and ball part. Trim it up, drilled a small 3.3MM hole in mirror housing

and used the origional self tapping screw to fit. Easy, and very tidy as well.

Cheers,

Dave.
