Handbrake Mot Service Norn Iron

The mechanic has broken the 6 inch aprox bolt something to do with the handbrake - I have failed the MOT, obviously, on Saturday and have had to wait since last Wednesday to get a new handbrake cable fitted - does this seem reasonable i.e. would it be normal for this bolt to shear off when it was being tightened - £48 for a new cable! sorry I'm relying on someone with a techie background just a bog standard 2002 GS.

If the mechanic broke then he should pay for it?!?!

Wouldnt be normal for it to shear off!

Now the new cable has arrived but they didn't order the 'bar' that they broke - it won't be here until Friday - %$(, %$( %$(ing usless shower of barstewards!
