Just been asked if I would like a lodger in my house from this weekend, the trouble is that I fly back to the UK on Friday and then back to the Netherlands on Tuesday until further notice.

Thats the thing with lodgers, you gain money but lose privacy....

Depends which one is more important to you  Do you need the extra money?

Unless you know them pretty damn well it wouldn't be the privacy thing, I would be more concerned about leaving the house in their hands on a regular basis when you go away, if it was a random lodger I would say no way.

I'm with Les.. a big NO NO if its a stranger or someone you don't know very well. Also there is the legal side, how easy would it be to get them out if you wanted, they would have some form of Tennants rights which could prevent you getting your room back regardless of any contracts.

If you asked then who asked you? If it's through an agent then you're pretty safe and it seems sensible if you're out of the country on a frequent basis.

Isnt Moffmo after somewhere to live in Hull - 27th June to 1st August?

(Saw it in his MSN name!)

There you go - sorted! You get someone trustworthy-ish to look after your gaff whilst you're off gallivanting, you get a bit of extra cash and he'll be out by August 1st

It was Moffmo who asked me in the first place.

Im not "gallivanting", its all work related(while I am on site), just been asked to stay in Amsterdam for another six weeks

"trustworthy-ish" how much damage can he do in five weeks?

might have to say no cos I will have to clean up the house and buy a new bed

Cash in hand too mate so you wont lose your council tax discount, They'll never know ;)

Damn you all who said no

I only need somewhere to basically come home from work. use my PC, sleep, go to work. That is my life at the moment :(
