Reading through the recent posts it looks like there is a new remap on the go. Anyone had this, and what do they think about it?

Yes, it was me who posted it up.

The car did seem smoother with the remap but my own car has some issues which did not appear to improve despite it, so it's back to Mr T :censor:

Car booked in this morning for remap, had already discussed this with Service Manager when I made the booking. (And guess who is not in today?) Asked to speak to Tech who was going to do this, and guess what. NO remap available!! All they were going to do was reset the ECU. I give up!! Foreman says he is going to get on to Toyota today (who only open at 11am?) and give me a call back. So if anyone who has had a remap could possible post any details, even name of deler that carried this out, it would be much appreciated.

It will be interesting to see if I get a call back today

Just had a call back. Dealer has been on to Technical at Toyota, apparently there are definetely NO remaps available, and there will be none in the future. (Do they have a crystal ball?)

This is part of the e-mail I sent to TTE

Hi Norbert,

I don't know if you recall but you helped me out with some problems with

my Toyota Corolla Compressor back in November '06.

The car has since been back a number of times for 'remaps' but the

problems remain.

The car still runs out of breath on acceleration, 'hiccups' when you

accelerate hard after gentle driving (we used to call that the 'Dashpot'

effect years ago!)and sometimes seems to hold back when driving at a

constant speed.

The car went back as recently as last month for one of the mysterious

'remaps' but I am beginning to wonder whether these actually exist and

suspect that the dealer is simply resetting the ECU.

I did also complain that I was losing the gears when shifting on hard

acceleration but the dealer claimed that the ECU remap would cure it (yes,

I was confused at that one!!).

Needless to say, it did not....

As more people seem to be getting their hands on these cars I talk to them

and seem to be on my own with these problems.

I was grateful for your previous help and hope you don't mind me troubling

you again for any assistance you can offer.

We are now in full conversation about this but it does appear my dealer has been BS-ing me

Kinda cheeky, and us normal CTS attempting a small thread hi-jack again, but could you ask them about the CTS and if they can do anything with that?

Or if you let me know who it is i could ask them?

I know we won't get anywhere near the gains you guys would, but it would be nice to hit lift earlier as per the Lotus ECU!!

  • 3 weeks later...

No remaps available, but there is a fuel octaine procedure to make sure it is set to run on 98, this is not done by the intelligent tester so is not a remap. The ecu has map 1 and map 2, map 2 is kind of fail safe if you put wrong octane in it will not run right, but engine damage can still occure. So when some dealers say they are remaping i think they are just setting the ecu to run on 98 octane.
