Roadster Heat Shields. Driving Me Mad!

Hi All,

Can anyone out there tell me the purpose of all the various heat shields around the exhaust system on the roadster?

One of the ones on mine "resonates" at around 1500-1800 RPM`s. I have made it slightly better by bending it slightly but I know it will come back again.

I have had a good look around, but i cannot see anything in the vicinity which needs protecting from the heat.

I am tempted to remove them but it seems Toyota have gone to a lot of trouble to fit them for some reason!

Has anybody out there removed theirs and/or know what they are there for anyway? (it`s the standard single outlet system).

Thanks Bob. :blink::blink::blink: :

Heat shields are obviously there for a reason (BLOODY THINGS!!!) and like you say there is more than one. The one that caused bother to me was just after the precats on the down pipe, once the fixing bracket breaks it is a bugger to get to and to weld because of the dissimilar metals, I solved it with a couple of heavy duty exhaust clamps and a lot of cursing, it's been on for over a year now and so far is still ok but if it starts again I might be tempted to whip them off ;)
