Hi guys, another one for you:

Yesterday my oil light was flickering on every 5 mins for like 2 seconds, so i put more oil in after checking the dipstick. However there is a large tapping/banging noise coming from the engine, and when i accelerate it becomes too loud. Secondly, with this ive lost too much power, judging by the speed i can fully accelerate now, it must be 10-12 seconds to 60. Someone help me, my dad reckons my teppets are gone :s whateva they are. Can someone tell me if it is this, what are they, how much is it to repair, and shud i not use the car for a while? cheers dudes and dudettes

How low was the oil, when was the last time you checked it?

If it has been run/driven with low oil for a while it could have damaged/worn plenty of things.

Get a garage to take a look at it and see what they think, no point changing the lifter/tappets if the engine needs to come apart again for more work.

I do high motorway miles and i had my car serviced 8500 miles ago (60'000 mile service) which was 1 1/2 - 2 months ago. It obv had new oil then, when i checked it there wasnt much in it, but i changed the oil as soon as the light came on :S

Ones of the cranks might be bust???? Doesnt make much sense really.

Did he say that one of the crank bearings/shells are damaged? If this is the case why not just fit a new big end Shell?

when i checked it there wasnt much in it,

You can never check your engine oil too often. Oil is the lifeblood of your car's engine; sounds like you have bled it dry (poor T Sport) :crybaby:

The engine oil's job is primarily to stop all the metal surfaces in your engine from grinding together and tearing themselves apart from friction.

Is the T Sport an overhead cam? Lack of oil will starve lubrication to the top of your engine.

I would get it assessed professionally by Toyota.

Good luck.

Thats the thing I thought checking once a month was good enough, apparently not :( I loved that car, Was in pristine condition, now its dying on me :( I will rectify the situation, without the need of buying a new car. I will ressurect the T Sport and with it make it better.
