also.... my gen6 202 was broken into recently and the p****s have snapped the centre of my dash and taken the stereo brackets, anywhere i can get another dash insert and stereo brackets cheap, im hopefully selling the car so need to get this sorted. thanks guys

Yeah I noticed this too and it sounds really good with the K&N panel filter and resonator boxes removed! Almost reminds me of my Corolla T-Sport (with K&N Typhoon induction days)... okay then not quite! :D

Try http://tcbparts.co.uk/ for the bits you're after.

Or just search eBay for "Breaking Celica", "Breaking GT4", "Breaking ST205", etc, etc

There are so many of them being broken you're almost certain to find one within a few miles of home and price of parts you need should be fairly cheap.

ACIS is where you have a valve which opens at a certain RPM allowing more air to enter the intake.

The celica actually doesnt use ACIS, its uses TVIS which stands for Toyota Variable Intake System.

This is a very similar method to ACIS.

On the Celicas you have 8 butterflys. Only 4 are open during normal driving, but once you reach a cetain RPM all 8 open.

Its a great system, but they actually removed it from the ST205 as it became a restriction.

It depends which celica you have as to whether it runs ACIS or TVIS. This is which has which:

Gen4 GT ST162 & GT4 ST165 have TVIS

Gen5 GT ST182 has ACIS, Gen5 GT4 ST185 has TVIS

Gen6 GT ST202 & GT4 ST205 have ACIS (i think the St205 does anyway, I am unsure)

TVIS = Toyota Variable Induction System, uses a vacum controlled twin port system on the intake manifold.

Each cylinder has 2 ports on the intake manifold, one of the ports for each cylinder is closed at low rpm. At a high rpm the butterflys open up, allowing more flow into the cylinders.

ACIS = Acoustic Control Induction Sysyem, uses a vacum powered butterfly controlled electronically.

This uses a single port per cylinder intake with variable length intake tracts. The intake runners are long when the valve is shut, and at a given rpm the acis valve opens and allows cross port flow, effectively decreasing the intake runners.

What both these systems do is increase torque in the low / mid range and open up for power at high RPM.
