Diagnosis Advice

Hi,

Having a slight (at the moment) problem with a 2002 Corolla T-Spirit 2L Diesel.....A couple of times recently the engine has been quite sluggish, but the problem is intermittent....For example the other morning when I was taking it to the dealer for a diagnostic it was very sluggish for about the first 5 minutes of driving, after which everything seemed fine....

Engine light came on once but hasn't come on again since....However, dealer is saying that the Fuel Pump needs replacing....and wants almost £1500 to do it...

In their defence they also recommended getting a reconditioned one and having it done else ware, but I also want to make sure that it is actually the fuel pump...

Can anyone suggest other things to check....Also, any advice on a good place to source second hand/reconditioned items such as fuel pumps....

BTW - Would a fuel pump from a 2004 D4D Avensis work on a 2002 D4D Corolla - Someone is selling one on eBay.......The markings on the part looks to be

22100-0G010

HU 294000-0102

06 E 02052

Is it just a question of checking this with Toyota to see if it will fit?

Thanks in advance

Andy

Good news is that the fuel pump on eBay is an exact swap out for the one in my car....

All I need now is somewhere that can fit it.....Don't fancy paying the hourly rates my Toyota garage wants.....(They estimate 5 hours labour at about £85 per hour) and my normal

Anyone know a decent and reputable toyota specialist in the Herts, Beds or Bucks area.....or perhaps even N/NW London?

Thanks

Andy
