Hi all after recently fitting a fmic to my car my rocker cover looks terrible in fact its awful, so ive decided to remove it ,clean and paint it. Only thing is i cant get the bloomin thing off ive removed everything above and around it and i cant get it to budge :censor: . Is there a specific way to remove the cover or is it just a case of going at it all guns blazing? cheers.

Should come off, but be very stiff.

Remove all the top nuts and the plug leads, and any other wires/pipes that are in the way or connected to it. PCV valve can stay on for now, but chances are you'll need to replace the grommet that this lives in due to oil leakage around it. The grommet ( and the valve ) are only a few quid from Toyota though, and it keeps the rocker cover clean if it's replaced !

If you look at the 2 sides of the cover, there are 'arches' cut into it to accomodate the top end bearings. As well as the rubber gasket, there will be a blob of silicon sealer at the bottom of all of these arches ............. this is what's causing the problem I reckon. Pry it at the sides, go slowly and steadily and it'll come off

Good luck
