New Key

Hi All, quite new here so forgive me if in wrong place.

I have just bought a 53 reg Toyota avensis but it only has 1 key. I am told a new key would be £80 from dealer. Is this correct ?

Is there a cheaper solution.

Hi,

I was actually quoted £230+VAT by my local dealer for a new spare.

Instead i followed the advise from an earlier post on this topic i.e. contact previous owner (address on log book) and see if they have the spare key. I was lucky, previously my vehicle was in a company name and so it was easy to get hold of contact number. The guy at the other end was happy enough to part company with the spare (though it is a bit worn but still works so no probs).
