you defo need an LSD or you wont live with the torque steer. make sure you get the viscous (or helical type) as the plate type LSD's are a little too severe in a FWD.

on the front im running 235/40/17 A048's wich just about cope. also sorting out the mapping for gear dependant boost and launch/ traction control.

for the strip i will be using solid struts on the rear with an extra 25-30mm of hight to push the nose down and to get a bragging time some M&H wrinkle wall drag tyres.

even so wheel spin is still an issue but you will learn to drive differently, instead of mashing the throttle you learn to progressively apply the throttle etc.

Ok pal, i'm not to clued up with the whole LSD lingo malarky.

What is the difference (make sure you get the viscous (or helical type) as the plate type LSD's are a little too severe)

Also, what sort of arch work have you done to fit 235 on, and what is the width of your wheels. I got 17" by 7", but will hopefully get some 17" by 8" soon after the new project. What's the widest tyre that will fit on a 7" wide wheel?

215 i guess, however 205 would be more clean looking.

225 on a 8"

ive got 235 on a 7x17 but it does reduce steering lock and depending how much its loweredit will catch the arches. 205x17 on the rear will cause it to catch the arch but again depends on offset and lowering. i have rolled my rear arches and now ok. watch also clearance to the strut on the rear as i have had to use a 5mm spacer to stop the tyre rubbung the strut!!

as for LSD's a plate type is just that. the normal gear arangement in the diff is replaced by friction plates that allow a set amount of slip (differance in wheel to wheel speed.

a helical one uses a gear arangement and is more progressive and not as snatchy

Dawesy I love the twiny, that thing must be rapid, i guess it's probably one of the quickest things on the road!!

Whats it doing 0 - 60 in and 1/4 mile etc..

still sorting traction issues ATM but 1/4 times should be low 12's high 11's once ive sorted a few bits.

0-60 is about 4 secs and 0-100 is about 9 secs. will get em measured properly one day. top end is about 180mph already seen 165 and it was still pulling

Dawesy : What are you doing to help with traction. I have justjust recieved a quote to convert to rear wheel drive :) BUT it's a "little" over my budget!!

So instead i'm going with a LSD setup. Do you think the LSD setups are worth it?

Out of interest how much was the quote for the RWD conversion, I would say that would be a nightmare of a task to install the running gear correctly and accurately, it would be interesting to see it being done, i wonder is there anyone in the country with a rwd e10 or gti corolla

The guy who can do mine has converted a few front wheel drives to rear already. He charges around 4-5k... all in. That's for a full setup. I told him it's a bit steep, but he explained the work involved and tbh, if i had a spare 4k...i would do it tomorrow! But i don't...so LSD front wheels setup for me it is :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby: :crybaby:

I've spoken to a guy from Iceland, he build a 4wd on a E11 and he told me that it's not a big deal at all... Should be easy as hell...

Then just remove the thingies to the front wheel pulling them round (what the hell, my english suck today :D - what are they called? Dragshafts??) replace them with something to stop the oil leaking from the gearbox... Problem solved!

I'm sure if it was that easy....everyone would do it. Maybe Labour charges in Iceland are cheap. My conversion is expensive, mainly due to the cost of the labour involved in doing the work.

with out welding up the centre diff the car will go nowhere without the front wheels connected to the gearbox!!

MR2 turbos come with 3 types of transmission. no LSD, Plate LSD and helical LSD you can only tell by looking through the hole for the driveshaft. i try and sort out what your looking for. it all depends on the size of a hole in the centre of the diff

I was just pondering(dreaming) over the idea of fitting anti-lag to the 3s gte, is it possible to retro fit an anti-lag to a standard(won't be for long) 3s gte, it is not the wrc engine, and how much do you wreckon this would be

Please, make a new thread about that :)

ill comment on it here as it may be of use to some one.

i had antilag on the rolla for a time. hers a couple of points about it:-

1 it is of no use on the road (not to mention being illegal)

2 your turbo will last about 2 minutes, even the stage 3 hybrid with 360 deg thrust bearing i had only lasted for a total 40 mins use !!

3 all its good for is throwing flames out, but if you want that then get a flamer kit its cheaper.

as for cost youll be looking at a stand alone ecu capable of runing ALS and that will set you back a grand at least!!

Taught the turbos would last longer than that ,

my mate has a st205 with forged engine and ct20 stage 2 with motec m4 pro with als and his turbo seems to be lasting and this man drives this car!!

It also depends on how hard the anti-lag is set-up ,

Heavier for stronger engines etc.

I think you can also set it up in such a way it won't increase power and won't damage your engine, turbo etc but will do the banging and farting. thats what a man who is good at mapping and also trains lads to map engines, he knows his stuff.

Also wrc st205 engines say they can have anti-lag put goin, load of rubbish forget about it,

Mappable ecu's with anti-lag feature do it.

They can also have launch control with is nice but hard on clutches.

Also dawsey could you find out about the helical gearboxes, and do they come in rev 3 or was it later rev 4, i suppose the mr2 boys should know this.
