Hello all,

I have a gentle knocking sound in the steering of my avensis car when I take a turn. Is anyone else aware of this problem. How serious is it and remedies ?

warm regards

So, is this from the steering column, ie UJ? Does it sound like it comes from one side, like from the CV joints? How old is the car?

Yes . the noise is from the steering column . Seems to come from the end of the column near to the clutch/ brake area. It comes while turning left or right, not necessarily from one side. The car is Y Reg - 6 years old . Could it be a greasing problem or a gear-pinion problem?

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I also have a slight knocking through the steering wheel.
