Gearbox Trouble

I'm having a problem with my gearbox. Ive got a 2000 avensis, (pre vvti engine) petrol and I'm on my 3rd gearbox. The car is used as a taxi but the original box went at 88,000, had another second hand one put in and that lasted 3 weeks. Its on its 3rd one now and ive noticed a slight noise in 3rd gear. Its had new oil in and a transmission additive but i'm wondering if there is something that could be damaging the cogs that is not a fixed part of the gearbox. I do not fully understand how it all works but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
