Insurance : Protection Racket

Most insurance brokers/companies try to sell you 'protected no-claims discount' so that claims don't impact it.

However, if you have an accident and make a claim, your no-claims discount remains the same as a percentage figure only.

The actual price of the policy can rise, simply because you will be assessed as a higher risk of future claims.

You can also end up paying a higher premium even if you don't claim. Again because you will be assessed as a higher risk.

Most unfair of all is when they clobber you for an accident that your are not to blame and have been proven to be so.

I was involved in a motorcyle accident in August 2003 when a car coming in the opposite direction made a right hand turn without observing. Bike was a write off and I suffered injuries. Help-Hire appointed a specialist solicitors for me who got police evidence, witness reports and a locus rport from a specialist. I was eventually paid 100% of the motorcycle valuation and compenation for my injuries. All expenses such as hire bike from Help-Hire, hefty solicitors fees, etc were also met by the third party's insurers.

However, some insurers/brokers put up my premiums for this; for both car and motorbikes! Even after nearly four years!

Easy to compare, now that you can get quotes on the internet. Make sure to fill in exactly the same details, except the accident. Do it with different names and email addresses
