Wiper Linkage Needs To Be Replaced

Anyone have any previous experience of wipers not working at all.

Garage said it's linkage, waiting on parts till Tues, they will try a quick fix in the meantime.

Is it possible to fix this manually?

I understand it's not related to the motor?

The back windscreen wiper is fine, water jets out fine.

When i turn on the wipers for front i get a faint whining noise from the engine as if the motor is trying to work.

I have a Corolla liftback '00.

Not usually a huge job to fit, though I can't speak about that model of car in particular.

It's pretty unusual for a linkage to go. Do you know what has gone? There's not much to them, but most likely culprit is the short arm that attaches to the motor. These are usually splined to grip the motor shaft, and if they come loose the splines can go.

Depending on cost, I'd be looking at getting one from a breakers because they should last for years and years, so even another seven year old one should be OK.

Unless there is a particular problem with the linkage on these cars? Anyone know about that?
