Avensis Window Problem

Hi!

Anyone had this problem and found a cure ?

I have a 99 Avensis GS which came with a driver's window that would periodically refuse to open or close.

I paid to have it "checked" by an auto-electrician who dignosed a faulty switch.

Had to replace the whole cluster as a unit at almost £100 from Toyota (unit includes both front windows and central locking switch). Simple DIY job to fit- thought that would be cured.

WRONG.

The window will now intermittently open or close fully but doesn't respond to stopping part way.

It also sometimes decides to fully close then open half way again.

I don't really want to find it jams open on an accasion when I have to leave it somewhere

and it's a nuisance at car-park barriers when I have to open the door and get out to grab a ticket from the machine !

I assume as the switch has been replaced with a brand new one it's likely to be a wiring fault somewhere, perhaps in the door.

All help help or suggestions with this one gratefully accepted. Thanks.

AA

Have you tried resetting the window? If you hold the window switch up for 5 seconds and try it again it should be fine, this will stop it going up and then dropping down halfway.

I agree, had the same problem, resetting the window as above cured the problem

Thanks fellas!

My car has just gone to the body shop as some kind person drove into the back of it whilst I was parked up. Will try this as soon as it comes back.

Thanks for the advice.
