Im burning my fingers on the touchpad

The cooling fan is probably full of dust

are these temps ok

Core 2:69oC

GPU :71oC

Mem :64oC

Chipset :62oC

HDD :49oC

Not sure about temperatures but if you are burning your fingers its probably not a design feature on a lap top. Check if its a sony... but I suspect its too darn warm. Give it a day off and a few cold beers!

My brothers laptop overheated coz he was using it in bed and the fans under the laptop were starved of air!

Yeah - never use a laptop on a bed, pillow, chair.... its more prone to overheating!

I always keep mine on the desk - sometimes on my lap but very rarely!

All you need to do is to close all those 1000's of programs.

get a laptop cooler, just raises it up, has extra fans and gives the air somewhere to go

i use mine in bed all the time. my processor is running at 57.2º

Battery is at 35º

you could knit some little bootees for it, or go to the vets and get it's claws clipped !

Core 1 got to 88oC today, laptop was running really slow

the fan is not spinning

hopefully a new fan will fix the problem
