Hi i have a estima emina 2.2 diesel 1993 and when i turn a sharpish corner (left or right) i get a knocking noise

whould this be the wheel bearings?

Thanks

They're FWD right? In which case more likely to be CV joint(s) I would think.

Wheel bearings tend to rumble rather than knock, and often the noise is worse when travelling in a straight line; when you turn the bearing gets a sideways loading which can tighten it up and stop, or at least reduce, the noise.

I think CV joints click more than knock when they are worn.

At first perhaps, but as they get more worn they can knock quite loudly - though I guess it depends what angle they're turned at and how much power is going through them.

Thanks to both of you I'll get them both checked out.

RWD unless 4x4....

Oh, thanks; I wasn't sure and Wikipedia was no help apart from mentioning the 4WD version, so guessed they were probably FWD on the whole.

That would probably discount the CV joint then ;D

The company I work for sell a lot of the front CV joints for the 4WD versions so I wouldn't discount it....unless of course it's the 2WD version! :ermm:
