Road And Wet (?) Noise

My wife complains that, particularly, in the wet her Yaris is very noisy and I have to agree. Its sounds like the water is in the car if you drive through a puddle. As there is a fair bit of road noise from the same, roughly, area I'm thinking its the unprotected wheel arches. There is only a plastic guard over part of them and the rest is just coated with a rust preventor or something similar. The carpet inside the car has a underlay and odd polystyrene sound preventor so I'm guessing the inside of the car is probably alright. I'm going to use some sound absorbing material designed for the job but I was wondering if anyone else has the same "noisy" Yaris ?

The back has unprotected wheel arches and it'a a bit noisy when driving on wet or on gravel. You can do some soundproofing starting from the back seats floor, the boot floor/wheelwell , inside the rear panels and the rear arches. You can buy some soundproofing sheets at this shop - it won't cost much but takes some time cover the floors, panels and so on.

Thats interesting, I didn't know that and it explains a lot....thanks.

i have a supplier of some good foam/rubber sound deading stuff who does different thicknesses, 10mm for the floor areas and 3 mm for wheel arches, wheel wells etc...on the inside of course
