Rattle In Engine In Vvti Corolla '00

Hey,

Got an annoying rattle noise in my engine at low revs and it's ususally only in 2nd and 3rd gear.

Any ideas what might cause it ?

Was hoping it was a bad dose of petrol as I have it a month back and it disappeared.

It's like a delay in distribution of petrol as sometimes the car will chug for a couple of seconds too.

This only really happens in the first few mins from driving the car cold, hasn't had and impact on steering or controls as yet.

Is this a serious job to fix as i've read somewhere that this can lead to reseting of ECUs.

Can I do damage to the engine by continuing to drive like this?

Have you checked your oil level??

Some of theese cars use a bit of oil, so if it start to get to a low level, the sound you are describing can be heard...

hmmm, i might have misunderstood your noise... Try to clean your air flow meter. It`s a electronic part fitted to the airfilter some place, with two star screws.... (baaaad english, i know....) Try to clean this inside with something. If you use a flashlight and look inside it, you might see dirt in there. But do not touch the part you need to clean, use some cleanerspray of some sort.
