Looking For Advice Planning Route In The Uk

Hi All,

Myself and my wife are planning a road trip to celebrate the purchase of our Rav4, well not really but ;) ...

We are going up to belfast (from Kildare) and getting the Ferry to Stranraer. I was hoping to head down to holyhead over the next 4 or five days for the return ferry home.

Can anyone recommend any stop offs along the way, or any places worth seeing. My knowledge of the geography of the UK is quite poor , I obviously was not paying attention in chemistry class :D

Or, am I better off heading north from Stranraer and doing some sort of loop around scotland?

It really depends what you want from your trip.

If you're after some good driving roads, beautiful scenery etc then I'd recommend going North. The West coast of Scotland is a wonderful place, although you may get eaten alive by midges !
