Ok so for starters, here is my aygo +

IMAG0001.jpg

Woo magical. I love her and have never been happier to own anything as i am my aygo. BUT i want to enjoy it even more and make it look even more appealing that it already does. I just wondered if you guys could help me in terms of what should be done first, how much it costs, how it can be done etc. Links and such would be very much appreciated.

As the topic says i am starting from scratch. I have a new head unit on order and plan to upgrade speaker system soon after. If you could help with exterior styling that would be great.

One last thing, i want to make it look even more stylish than it already does, not over the top. So not interested in decals etc. I am a car modding NOOB. : D

I have added Philips Blue Vision bulbs in the headlights, side lights , tail / brake lights and the courtesy light. ( sales@powerbulbs.co.uk; ) - 1 hour

Next I wired in a passenger door switch and ran a second lead to the boot ready for my boot light. ( Mr T ) - 45 mins

I then added a delay on the courtesy fitting. ( Zeld Autos ) - 15 mins

I swapped the long aerial supplied for a black 160cm Bee Sting aerial. ( Motabitz ) - 7 mins

I put on a set of Aygo scuff plates ( Mr T ) - 20 mins (including degreasing the sills )

Then came the exhaust trim - square end in chrome. ( Motabitz ) - 20 mins

My last job for the week will be a white LED boot light as soon as it arrives, I will be using a micro switch on the base of the lock to operate the light. ( http://www.mobilecentre.co.uk/index.php?main_page=contact_us ) - 30 mins

First thing.... the aygo is a brilliant base car to start to modify, the bad thing is that there are not too many modded aygo's floating around so it can be hard to find parts.

Most of the mods on the aygo i am building have been custom made but that is what makes modding an aygo so fun and makes you truly individual.

If you need any help with modding the car feel free to pm me and i can help you with any mod that you wish to do..... ive been in the business for all my life so i wont give you any false info!! Plus i am good friends with two companies that are now specialists in modding the aygo!

Good luck!

The switch cost £9.00 and some wire another few quid.

just pop the panels behind the door pillow, wire up the switch and screw in.

Run the lead behind the panel then lift the rear seat base hide the wiring under the carpet and thread it through the driving side panel to the original switch.

Connect the wire to the pink ??? wire and use the wiring loom cover to protect the new wire.

It is really easy to do if you need any help let me know.

What do people think about window tints? Obviously they increase security and look stylish. But cost wise? Also, how do they work? do you buy a complete new set of windows or is a film applied to the current ones?

Oh! and to add spoilers. The TTE official is the safest, yet most expensive bet. Anyone got any ideas on a small roof spoiler at not such a high price, yet similar quality and as good looking? Thanks

I replaced the old ariel with a sharkfin ariel (integrated with an exterior GPS antenna). The triangular shape matches the triangular shape of the headlights

Also added the glovebox lid and central armrest (from Peugeot)

Ive read on here that the aygo own glove box lid is twice the price for the same peice of plastic. will take a trip to the nearest pug garage this week. Cheers

To tint the car you add a film to the existing windows.... it isnt as easy as it sounds though so i would get a pro to do it mate. It costs around £150 to get all the windows bar the windscreen tinted

As for the spoiler i prefer the car without one personally but i still believe that the TTE one is the best looking

Guys. I need some help. Just got new head unit. Was sat there confident that it would be easy enough to set up, and then hit a wall (not a real one, a psychological one). Heres my problem:

kenwood headunit. Wiring loom from unit to car has all the speaker connections (fine im happy with that) as well as the power connections.

This is a really odd way to show you but here goes:

Red / Blue - white / empty / empty

----------------------------------------------

Black / emtpy / Yellow / empty

In the manual it says Red = ignition (acc), Yellow = Battery, Blue - white = power control, black = earth.

Then the iso connection in the car is as you may know as follows:

Light blue / empty / empty / empty

-----------------------------------------------

Brown / Green / Grey / empty

Question 1:

What is power control? and do i need to move this to match any of the cars own sockets

Question 2:

What are the functions of the aygos own wires. so, what does light blue wire do, what does brown wire do, etc etc

Question 3:

There are changeable connections within the red and yellow wires. The manual mentions swapping these for certain cars to enable constant power. do i need to do this for the aygo?

Thanks so much to anyone who can help at all. I have searched the internet and looked at the manuals but dont seem to be able to work it out :censor:

If your Kenwood is complete it has a loom with a Kenwood-

connector on one side and an ISO-block on the other side.

When that IS the case you do NOT need to worry about the

colors of the wires; that's the idea behind the ISO-standard.

However you DO need to swap the yellow and red wires in the loom.

So disconnect them both, then plug red into yellow and yellow into red.

Connect everything and it should work. Test BEFORE buttonng up the

dash; if you've made a mistake access to everything is much simpler.

You need an adapter for the antenna, but with most Kenwoods this is included.

Thank you!!! : ) just hooked up and works great (with the help of a torch holding not very impressed dad. haha) Going for a drive to test it out. :toast:

EDIT: here are some pics taken this morn after id fitted the facia plate. Excellent quality from an eBay shop at under £10 inc p+p if anyone wants details let me know.

IMAG0001-1.jpg

I also ran a wire through the dash to the glove box for mp3 player connection (no leads sticking out of the front :yahoo: )

IMAG0005.jpg

Now all i need is the glove box lid to hide it all. New Speakers coming today / tomorrow as well as new aerial. Keep the ideas coming please. Have been a great source of help / inspiration so far.
