Corolla ... How Much Space?

We currently have a V5 golf for the family car. It's only a 3 door, so it's gonna be a bit of a tight squeeze when Niamh goes to a forward facing baby seat.

We've been looking at quite a few cars, from Landrovers to X-Trails etc, but we came across this....

It looks pretty decent and is about 5K cheaper than the landrover! It's listed as a 1.4 T3 VVTi

Curious as to how much space is in these and how big the boot is. Also, with it being a 1.4 is it going to be slow as %$(??

Any advice appreciated!

I find there's plenty of room in mine for two kids seats and an adult in the back.

The boot's a decent size and will easily accomodate a kids buggy.

As for the engine, no idea!

You might want to whack this topic in the Corolla section, i'm sure someone will be able to comment on the performance!

Space in the car is superb.. power.. no idea as mine has just a little bit more... but you won't be disapointed by the room.

Is it a Diesel.. if so.. power won't be too much of an issue for a family car.. fairly torquie.

As I'm on holiday.. what are you doing tomorrow.. could be up for a drive down and a day out if you like?

Everyone's needs are different of course. There are just the two of us and we find our Corolla has plenty of room. It's quiet, rides well and is also remarkably well built I think for a mass production car. Coming from a Golf (which has fantastic plastics in my view) you shouldn't be disappointed on that score. The boot is pretty good (about average for the class I recall from a review) though we have found that we can't get both of our two suitcases in when we go away and have to stow one on the back seats - but that depends very much on the shape and size of suitcases anyway! It wouldn't be a reason for me not choosing one again (if they were still made of course). I'd rather change the suitcases!

All in all it's a great car - I actually think it looks marginally better on the outside than its replacement the Auris and, interior-wise, is far superior (the Auris has a bizarre centre console feature in the front with far inferior plastics in my opinion). The one in your picture looks like it's Ignious Grey which is same as mine - a very tasteful colour!

Mine is a 1.6 so I couldn't really give you a useful view on performance. I'm sure someone else, with a 1.4, will though. They are a helpful lot on this forum:)

What Car Comparison

This may be some use to you. It's what i used to compare my Corolla with other cars when I bought it. Performance wise i have a 1.4 and don't find it too bad and there's plenty of boot space for me. However i did have a 1.0 Yaris before

Corolla is very roomy and plenty of boot space. I've had people sitting in the back comment of how much room there is and how airey it is. Quality is top notch!

Yep me too. My 6 foot mate was sat behind my 6 foot frame and said it felt like sitting in a luxury 4x4.

Took it out for a wee test drive. Very nice drive. The boot space is also quite large.

Think we're gonna buy it as the new family car. :D
