Knock In Steeringrack

Hello fellow AURIS owners , i have a 1600 Linea Sol 3 doors Auris and sometimes a feel a knock in my steeringwheel when i steer to the left or right while i,am driving

do some of you Auris owners feel the same knock ????

I had a similiar experiance with my old MINI, it would also creak through the steering when I did slow manoveres...It had to have a new steering coloumn under warranty at 6 months old..did the job though :)

It could also be a wheel bearing?

Funny, I've noticed that in some of the earlier cars (a T180 I have on the fleet), but not on the more recent ones (a T180 I have myself).

Seems like it's a bug that's being ironed out...........

I feel a knock some time on my Auris. And I have 205/55/16 tyres. I will ask on service next week.

Next week i can tell you of it was the steeringrack yes or no , when the old one is replaced by a new one .

They are not sure is it the steeringrack or no?

The think its in the steeringrack or else they have to change the other part ( don,t now the name for it ) under the Hood

Today is my steerringrack re-newed hopefully the Knock is gone now .

they olso changed the Recirculation button from automatic to manual through the a little handcomputer from the dealer .

every time i started the AURIS with te temperature on LOW it goes on recirculation automaticly but now NOMORE :P

The renewed my steeringcolom , and today the ordered a new steeringhouse hopefully the knock is gone when they changed the steeringhouse next week

I made a apointmend for Fryday 28-09-07 to bring the Auris to renew the Steeringhouse , the knock in my steeringwheel is more less now . Do they still going to change the steeringhouse just to be sure theres no KNOCk at all :)

Where was the problem? What part need to change to solve this knock?

In my service says that they dont have any information from Toyota Europe about this problem.

Can you look on bill what part number was changed, or send me on pm your VIN number, so they can look on data base where was a problem on your Auris?

Did you experience this knocking all the time, or only sometimes

and only when turining the steering wheel a lot to the left or right?

I experience some knocking when I drive in the city, about 3 times/1 hour

drive. Usually when the turn is 90degrees or more, not during small steering mooves.

During the test drive there were no sounds or other strange things in steering wheel.

But my MM-T transmission will be changed and I'll get the car back tomorrow!

Very pleased with good service from Toyota!
