T180 Questions (road Noise/run Flat)

I'm thinking of ordering a T180...my dealer has none for me to test drive so I

have some concerns...

1. Do the run-flat tires make the road noise higher?

2. What do you think of highway handling?.....I have

a Lexus 250 today and used to a pretty quiet ride

3. Is it possible to put winter-tires on the original 18-alloys or does

the "low pressure warning system" make it impossible??

Thanks!

Hi there,

1. I do not notice any more road noise with run flats compared to any other car ive ever been in.

2. Its a very comfortable ride even on Motorways, I had an Accord Saloon before and its not much different.

3. Doubt you could change the tyres as its toyota dealers only who can send the wheels away for tyre replacement. As far as i know!

I like mine its different its flexible and it loaded with toys!

Hi,

When I bought mine, the dealers told me that the tyres on the T180 are regular ones, not run flats per se.

The alloy has an inner rim which keeps the tyre 'inflated', so it's not necesarily the sidewall of the tyre doing the job.

This would potentially mean that winter tyres could be put onto the rim, as the TPWS only detects a lowering of tyre pressure within each alloy.

As for handling, I cannot think of another compact SUV at the moment that enjoys the same balance of chassis control and engine power (180 bhp and 295 lb/ft torque). Remember the engine in the T180 is the same as in the Lexus IS220d, so it's fairly refined for a diesel, but not up to limousine standards mind!!

I can't fault mine and would wholeheartedly recommend one to anyone!!
