Yaris Colour Edition

Was having a look at a Toyota dealer and sticker price was £6600 fro a 05 plate, with 16k miles. Good condition.

I offered £6300 cash clean purchase, no PX, and the dealer refused to sell. They said they will sell it at £6500. The car meant to be for my friend. However, we say no and we will get something else like a Mits colt or Clio. I think the Yaris is overpriced at this dealer or in general.

Do you guys think the price is reasonable?

It sounds pretty fair to me...

What you have to remember is the Yaris holds its value fairly well in comparison to most small cars.

I'm surprised they wouldn't sell at 6300, however if you'd bartered some more you may have got them down to it eventually.

No P/X, cash sale and they wouldn't knock a poxy 300 quid off the price??

They clearly don't wish to sell cars !

Unfortunately a lot of places tend to give better prices when you take out the finance option with them as they get the commission on that too.

I'd have offered him 6k tops - leaving room for bartering on both sides !

Yes we started at £6100 and the salesman wouldn't give way. They obviously don't want to sell cars. Remember an 05 plate is roughly 2 yrs old and still want £6500!!

Anyway we have left them our phone number to contact us when he wants to sell at £6300 before next week. Because next week end we will be going down to see some Colts at £6000 to £6500 for a 1yr old car with A/C.

I would have met him half way and gone for £6,400 (and a tank of fuel and a set of mats)

What model was it? (edit: I've just re-read the title!! Yaris Colour Edition, 1.0 petrol with A/C, spolier

I would stay clear of the Clio.

I would stay clear of the Clio.

It was basically a base model with AC, spolier and a CD player. No alloys. Its called the colour edition. I have told my friend that the car is not made of gold dust, if the price is not right - walk away and there are plenty of other cars to buy.

You're right I'm not too keen on the Clio too, a bit dubious about the bonnet issue..

Looking in the Auto Trader for the age spec miles and model etc of the Yaris you have mentioned (in the Birmingham/Midlands area), a lot of them are in the £7000 region.

Do you get any warranty with the car you were looking at? Found this near you:

Finished in Silver with elipse grey cloth interior. Registration VK05XSW Year 2005 Apr Mileage 7,238 Transmission Manual Fuel Petrol Price £6,500

Colour Collection isn't the base model, it fits in between the T3 & T-Spirit

T2 (base)

T3

Colour

T-Spirit

T-Sport

Only reason it doesnt have alloys is because its the 1.0, only the 1.3 Colour Collections were fitted with alloys as standard...

The problem is that you offered cash and no part ex. It's possible the dealer would want to make MORE money from someone else.

He is waiting for another sucker I mean valued customer to come along with a half decent car that he will offer peanuts for (and sell on for a profit). Also he will be hoping for that victim I mean valued customer will take out finance with an inflated annual percentage rate that he would also get commission for.

If you had walked in with another car and no money he would have chewed your arm off. The few hundred quid he would have lost on the screen price would have been easily made up (and some) with the part ex and finance deal.

Sharks the lot of them.

Cynical? Me? Naw...

That price sounds pretty good to me, considering the average mileage per year is between 10-12k and being on an 05 plate makes it two years old that's very low
