Hi folks,

I've had my Verso TR since new, about 7 months now, and there is a constant problem with the car wanting to pull to the left. I've had it into the dealership and all they done was a road test and assured me that the car was "just following the contours of the road". Anyone else had similar problems or know what is likely to be wrong......??

sounds like the tracking or alignment is off, but first things first, check that all tyre pressures are correct. If they are, get it to a reputable garage that can do wheel alignemnt. if they find something wrong, then get a printout stating that with the receipt for the cost. Then take it back to your dealer and if its under warranty, then get them to foot the bill. Might be an idea to run what you are going to do by them first, so they are happy with that. It could get them to wake up and pay a bit more attention

I agree with the above post check the tracking also have you had any punctures or tyres replaced ??.

also when your wheels are straight does your steering wheel line up straight and is there any uneven tyre wear.

One last point I do not think you will have much hope of getting the cost refunded as I am sure the dealer will say the tyres must have been kerbed to cause the the wheels to be out of alignment

as soon as i drove my d4d tr off the forecourt (fitted with the factory dunlops all round) i noticed it pulling to the left....not severely but enough to notice. i immediately took it back while they quick fixed it by letting out a few pounds pressure in the front tyres, this was to no avail.....i've since had the car back to the dealer 6 times (yes six) who have tried fobbing me off with 'ruts in the road' and 'tyre pressures' etc...........they have carried out a four wheel alignement twice and tracked it at least 3 times. everything shows up normal apart from uneven tyre wear on the outer edges but i believe that to be a characteristic of the car. they have now managed to stop it pulling to the left but have had to set the track inwards on both sides making the vehicle handle like a dog on a wet kitchen floor!!!

i know all this wont help you much but at least you know that there is someone in the same boat as you.....'boat' being a fitting word as my verso handles just like one!!! :-(

I find with my verso that when i brake it follows the road to the left or right depending on the road but it does follow the road. It drives stright on same road when not braking, dont know if this helps or if anyone has same thing.

Hi All, new Verso SR Owner for a month. Has all the problems you guys have tracking white lines and indentations on the road, pulling to the nearside etc

Have had a steering problem and the car has been back at dealers six times, including once for a replacement windscreen.

Tracking set after we got the car, should have been spot on when collecting it , poor pre del check I say.

Tyre loosing pressure due to faulty valve, replaced.

Still have a persistent wheel wobble, Balance problem. Aparrently their machine does not do wider profile tyres? :o and will have to go to one of their other dealerships to be balanced

Due to go back tomorrow 10th October.

Really ****** off with all the running back and forth to dealers.

Have contacted Toyota and they are supposed to be dealing with this.

I have told them and Dealer that if the car is not 100% tomorrow night I will be Rejecting it under the sale of goods act.

Might seem drastic to some ,but I am really peeved about this

Will come back when and let you know of the outcome.

When I drove my French Verso in the UK it too pulled over to the left, just a tad but enough to let me know something was not right. A toyota garage said they could not check alignment as their machine was not set up for LHD vehicles (nice people to do business with). When I drove in France the problem no longer existed so I don't feel I should go to my dealer here to check a problem that only exists in the UK! It will be interesting to see if it happens when I return to the UK in which case I can only assume it must be the chamber of the roads unless anyone has any other suggestions.

Well we have had problems with the dealer saying that they are not going to give a refund of our cash for this faulty vehicle.

What they didnt know is that They are responsible for the car not the manufacturer, They were shocked to find this out.

Toyota are supposed to be sending a expert? to check the car.

I have been in touch with the Trading Standards and they are dealing with all this for us.

There is a inherrant fault with Verso`s steering.

I would suggest to all Verso owners to go back to your dealer and demand action over the steering problems.

Around 470,000 vehicles have been recalled in Japan for steering faults and Toyota has had a enormous slap from Trading Standards or what they are called over there about vehicle quality.

We are rejecting the car this week due to all the hassle we have had, i:e steering and paintwork, If you have a red Verso please check the paint under a black and white cctv Camera to see if all the panels are the same colour, ours has different coloured doors.

Not acceptable on a Brand new car.

So much for Toyota being Manufacturer of the year

Well the car was inspected by Toyota service Manager on Thursday and found to be faul;ty,

They offered me a new one, but I declined that.

I dont want one that might have the same problems

Going for a full refund.

So if your Verso is pulling to the left take it back and demand action to resolve it.

The cars made in Turkey differ from ones made in Japan, Apparently the handle differently

Seems they should all handle the same ,as they are all made from the same blueprinted plans.

I said back in October that I would report back on my findings. When I drive on UK roads ( Dover to west London, M4,M3 mainly) she does pull slightly over to the left. I had the alignment checked in France before I left and they could not find a problem. I have driven in Spain and Germany as well as in France and I have not experienced the same slight pull as I do in the UK. I can only assume it has something to do with the chamber of our roads which does seem to be greater than in the countries mentioned but then I am not a road engineer so stand to be corrected. The fact that so many appear interested in this topic rather suggests that it is worthy of further investigation.
