Aussie Downpipe

just got me an aussie downpipe from fensport, but theres a couple of things in the fitting kit that i don't know what are used for. what is that flat metal ring used for, (not the reducer for the standard centre pipe) and why do they only supply me with four turbo studs instead of seven.

I'll be fitting it on wednesday and i've heard it's a bit of a b**ch, does anyone have any advise before i shred my hands up.

Thanks for any advise

Gasket maybe??

Not sure about the studs doesn't normally come with any for the Turbo, sure their not for the dp to flexi connection. You should also have a trianglary support bracket, make sure you fit this otherwise it'll crack.

As for being a pain to fit, fitting is easy it's getting the old cat off that's the hard part

I have a question about aussie down pipe

Is the aussie a 2.5" or 3" ?

If its 3" i know not all cars suffer from boost creap, but say u were gona have 3" all the way through what is the best way to deal with this problem? Is it exterall wasit gate or high bread/new turbo?

jerry!!

i got HKS 3" up to the cat, but as i understand on the celica the turbo use's the back pehsure to keep the twin entry turbo from meting the block lol so by removing the 2.5 pipe and the cat this i belive can confuse the car and it just says sod it have as much boost as u like >.> if im gona put it on i dont wana have to worry about such matters, so if their is a way to solve the problem before it can ercure id like to do it.

no its down to an inefficient wastegate design. not all cars with full 3" turbo back systems suffer.

if boost creep does happen then you have a couple of choices.

1, new turbo either internally or externally gated, Gready TD06 20G kit is a good one but you will need some sort of mappable ecu (power fc etc)

2, hybrid CT series with single port type wastegate (rare) as opposed to the dual port type

3, restrictor welded into the downpipe..

the whole problem is that cos the std wastegate is not very efficient when you get a better flowing exhaust the gas finds it easier to go through the turbine thus causing more boost. obviously its a vicious circle, more boost = more exhaust gas= more boost and so on .

back pressure is bad for turbo cars although it can help with low down torque it does make the turbo later spooling and can cause high exhaust gas temps, not good!

Fitted the aussie dp, (what a nightmare), i have noticed a slight power gain, especially over 6000rpm. You can also here the whistle of the turbo which is louder. Next will be a full Mongoose 2.5" system, to squeeze a few more horses out of her.

I want to chip it, does anyone have any ideas?

dont bother with a chip as such, get a mappable ecu (power FC if you can get one , is good value for money)

steer away from dasteks etc as these just mod the signal to the std ecu and as such arnt really that good

Apexi. they are a bit rare but keep an eye on fleabay as they pop up know and again.

you can use an mr2 turbo one as well although depending on what model gt4 you have you may need to alter a few wires
