hi jus looking for a little info, a mate of mines got a celica VVTI and says its 190bhp standard pic of the engine below

i thought the only celica engine that had 190bhp as standard was the VVTL-I engine as below

did you ever get 190bhp for the 1st engine pictured the VVTI???

his is a 140 bhp,

easy way to tell is by the inlet manifold

the 140 has a black plastic type of inlet manifold

the 190 is metal/aliminium.......u know wat i mean

But he says his mate is claiming that it now produces 190bhp. I guess that's possible with substantial mods, but if all he's added is a filter sat in the engine's hot air, and perhaps a different exhaust, then I'll guarantee it's not producing much more than 140 (if that). Toyota and Yamaha didn't make all those changes to the engine for fun.

Pre-TSport, the logos on the back were VVT-i, and VVT-i190. Easy to get confused. Its definately the 140 engine, and he'll be lucky to see anything more than 145BHP from it with nothing more than an induction kit / (possible) exhaust...

That's true - never understood why the 190 didn't have VVTLi Badge on the boot - nor why the flippin red bits weren't stuck in properly.
