Where Is The Starter Motor On Ae92 Gti?

As per title where is the starter motor for the gti???, as my gti just doesn't want to start, apparently if I bash the starter motor a couple of times it shoub be ok (?), lemme know what to do guy's

try putting the car in gear and pushing it forward and backwards a few times.hard work but sometimes works for stuck starters.the starter is just under the exaust.
