Obd Software

Hi

I've read several threads where members have mentioned using OBD Software to read ECU values and reset lights etc. What software are people using? I've downloaded and installed wOBD form obd2crazy.com but it does not seem show a reset button. The version I've downloaded says 'unregistered version' but I cannot see any mention of how to register on the website, maybe this is the problem. Any help appreciated.

I have seen on this website that by switching ON (Mark 2) the ignition key for 30seconds and OFF for 30 seconds for FIVE times will reset the engine light. This works on a number of Toyota models.

So if your software does not have this feature, try the above?

Whcih OBD hardware have you bought as a matter of interest, because I'm thinking of getting one?

Perfect.

Hi Perfect, thanks for your reply.

I've not got a light on at present so that isn't the problem.

I have an OBD reader that I use with VAG Com software with my VW and I was looking to see if I could use it with the Yaris. A few posts in the forum refer to being able to reset the light but the only software mentioned anywhere is the wOBD program that doesn't seem to have these facilities.

The device I have is OBDTool.

I've got other issues to deal with at present (some numpty has just run into the back of the Yaris  ) but when I get a chance in the next few days I'll give the OBDTool a try and post back.

Andy

Update 1: Having looked at the OBDTool website again, it seems that the do an OBDCom version that suits other cars, Toyota included. I've emailed them to ask if my OBDTool hardware is the same as that used in the OBDCom version.

Update 2: OBDTool have responded saying that they are different but will update my adaptor to a combined OBDTool & OBDCom adaptor and send me the OBDCom software for $41 delivered. I'll probably send it back next week and get that done. I'll report back.

I use a home built kit purchased from an electronics magazine........

Thanks, I'll have a look. That's right up my street.

Edit: Yes looks interesting but it's a 'stand alone' reader. I'm after an adaptor to use with a Laptop. Andy
