Hi all

I know someone has already mentioned the staining on the avensis drivers seat...I have the same problem, no matter how much you clean it the staining comes back...

Has anyone had the same problem and got MR T to replace the seat cover under warranty? This is the first car I have owned where this has occurred...big downer!

Let us know as my car is going in to be seen by MR T for a service soon and I want them to ideally replace the cover at the same time...surly its got to have somthing to do with the fabrics they've used....

Although it relates to a known Corolla, rather than Avensis, issue re seat staining, the thread below may be of relevance in your case too I guess. So I thought I'd draw it to your attention for info just in case

My 2006 Avensis 2.2 D4D car has the same problem...i thought it was just a nuisance.

I too would like to know if it is possible to claim this under warranty!!

Regards

Marcus

It's a known issue, there is a Toyota Service Bulletin about and how to clean the fabric.

(think it's from sweat as it only appears in the summer)

How can it not be a warranty issue?

Nobody would buy the cars if they knew they were going to have problems like this with the seats.

Stick to your guns and stick together; find as many people as you can who are ubiked off about this problem with the seats, and then demand that Toyota sort the problem out.

Good luck.

Off Topic> Ah, that's what ubiked is? I was wondering why it appeared in so many posts?

Me and my dad both have this problem. I find that most of the marks are water stains. When its been raining and you open the doors water runs off the roof and drips onto the seat.

This is where I have got to so far!

I am into the third week since being professionally valeted by the company recommended by Toyota dealer. No one has even sat on the passenger seat and the staining is reappearing. I really am getting annoyed about this now. T600 is correct and so I think a phone call to Mr T's head office is in order. The saga continues .... Toyota Avensis - Is It Really Worth Purchasing?

Well...

I think I might have had a break trhough with my Toyota dealership.

Took the car in for a service the other day and asked them to look at the seats and the boot struts.

They took pictures of the front seats and said that they would put it through to be replaced under warranty, also the bootstruts are being replaced under warranty as they have become stiffer to the stage that the boot is hard to open up.

Car is booked in to be dealt with on the 10th of september, so hopefully fingers crossed the job will be done well and I leave MR Ts a happy camper...

In the meantime I will be testdriving the new Rav4 on a 24hr deal...cant wait as I really like that car...I'm hoping that perhaps no one will book it for the 24hrs after me so that I can keep it whilst my avensis is being worked on....

I'll keep you all posted on the outcome of the warranty work....

I have Avensis Executive 2007, 2.0 vvti-petrol engine. I am also experiencing the seat staining problem, although my seats are leather ones. Is there a toyota recall on the seats?

Took my 3 month old Avensis to dealer yesterday, and they are ordering a new driver's seat cover. Staining apparently due to fire retardent.

Also having all chrome wheel nuts and wheel centre caps replaced as these are corroding.

I know this doesn't sit within the topic of seat staining but has anyone with the latest model 1.8 Avensis had problems with the steering/ stability of the car? I had my steering column replaced a week ago. Steering feels very vague (to the point of feeling unsafe). When going round a roundabout the car feels as though it is majorly oversteering. In side winds or the wet the car is all over the place.

Nope, had no problems with steering....

HOWEVER....MR T fobbed me off

The seat covers were cleaned and not replaced so the stains will come back sooner or later, on top of that there were further stains on the centre arm rest (front one) and when the boot straps were replaced they managed to damage me bumper... So not to happy and I would have been jumping up n down on them to get this resolved but as I am going to pick up my 06reg RAV4 XT4 on Friday I could not care less as they are getting the car back, I have informed them of the fact Im not happy with my last service due to the poor workmanship and refusing to change the covers but their response was well you dont have to live with it much longer...and they're right!

So this will be probably my last post in the Avensis section as I'm moving accross to the Rav one... :yahoo:

Bye

:bye:

Took our Avensis to book second service (yesterday) and mentioned staining (driver's, front passenger's and front-centre console (it's a T3x). Service manager had a quick look and said "it's a warranty job, rain/water gets in when the front doors are opened. I'll order the new covers, they have a teflon coating and, if you can wait a few days for the service, we'll fit them then".

i have got the same stain problem. i have taken the rule to use a foam cleaner each two weeks to clean all seats especially the places of friction with legs. The fabric quality is very bad. but no way but to continue cleaning
