HI all,

I read about somebodys st 205 losing power at around 6000 RPM i have a 94 st 205 and the same thing happens i hit 6000 rpm and it feels like you relly need to change gear and not a lot is happening pulling wise, by the sound of the replies from the other this is not normal?

has anybody else suffered with this? what was the problem and what did you do to get the RPM up higher?

may be normal but im used to hondas which are really revy engines so this feels really noticeable

appreciate any advice,

cheers

The 3S-GTE isn't ever going to rev like a VTEC or a VVTLi.

I think the question we had was how much did it drop off over 6000 rpm.

The non-turbo 3S-GE engine has its max power nearer to 7K and revs to a little over 7K.

Stock, the 3S-GTE (in the ST185 anyway) seems to have its max power at just a few 100 rpm over 6000 - 6300 say.

Howerver, I think it should then carry on pulling with almost maximum power right up to its red line (and probably a little beyond if you're prepared to let it, which of course you shouldn't).

It was me that brought it up and I don't think it's quite as bad as I was initially making out. It definitely peaks at just over 6k but doesn't seem to be as abrupt anymore. I think it's because I swapped the clogged panel filter with my nice clean TRD one from the GT.
