Clutch Problems

Hi. I have a Verso since February 2006. I have driven around 36000 miles. I have enjoyed driving this car compared to the last car i had which was Renault Espace! The only things that have gone wrong with the car was the passenger side air bad computer which needed replacing under warranty. There was also a fault with the airfilter holder, this had to be fixed as there was a blowing noise coming from it, again fixed under warranty. But recently i have been driving and have found that my clutch has been slipping when changing from 4th to 5th gear. It happened a few times, but never in lower gears. I went to my garage and they had a test drive in it and said that the clutch needs replacing! I couldnt believe it. They did say however that it is a fault that they have heard about so my warranty will cover it! They also said that the cars computer will also need replacing! I have not heard of this problem before and was therefore wondering if other people have heard and what is the cause of this

Hi there..

Regards passenger air bag- there is a recall- which was done by Toyota on your car - as far as I know they are replacing modified air bag control units

... as far as I heard about problem with these MMT clutches on Verso (gears slipping into neutral) .. Mr. T says they need to be driven special way to save the clutch and not to overheat it- cause these cars are manual with option to drive in automatic mode so when gears are changing you have to release accelerator pedal (in E & M mode) almost like you driving normal manual car- sales person had to demonstrate that!?!?! Like in your case they fitted modified clutch & MMT control unit parts.

REMEBER THIS CAR IS NOT AUTO!!

It's great car but had to be driven as manual- shame there is no proper automatic Corolla Verso version :(
