F1... Hamilton's Team "mate"

Did anyone else think that McClaren have let themselves down by letting their in-fighting out onto the pit lane on Saturday's qualification?

They're hardly a team if they have to behave like that! While I sympathise with Alonso about discovering that he isn't the quickest kiddie in the team after all, he is behaving like a spoiled brat. I really hope Hamilton continues his success but I fear Alonso will pull the whole team down.

I think Alonso is an excellent driver and i have loved watching him for the last 2 seasons. However, this year he has totally let himself down both on and off the track. He has made alleged comments in the press which i personally think he did say. He has been a bad sport and a bad loser so far. What a different side you have seen to his character now that things arn't going totally his way! If he can't cope with having a competitve team mate then he shouldn't be driving. I think Fisicella is ok but he is being made to look average by Kovalein. And i believe Alonso looked even better by comparison at Renault. But it is different story so far this year and he simply can't handle it! Will he continue to chuck his rattle out of the pram at every hurdle! looks like it?

These guys are so competitive and of the same charecter, that it should come as no suprise they both want to be number one, whatever it takes, however, just like all other talented sportsmen and women, they lose sight of reality when they hit the very top of their sport. There is just no justification for such petulant unsporting behaviour. As a team player, the team IS everything, you cannot have oddballs flying off in different directions, the team is all that matters. Ron Dennis is a superb handler of such talented drivers, and has had to deal with such problems before, I think the FIA deducting the team points was the wrong decision, it was a team matter, which should be settled by the team. Alonso has not only let his team down, but let himself down, by becoming the talk of all the press. In my book Alonso would have been suspended as a team player, but just like Football, F1 has been spoilt by the ridiculous sums of money paid into the sport. Top drivers=Money, sadly for all of us "sport lovers" kingo

Formula 1 is unique in the fact that whilst Hamilton and Alonso are TeamMates, they are also Rivals - In their purest forms these 2 situations are mutually exclusive. I can't think of any other sport that has this sort of Paradox.

I can fully understand Alonso's attitude, being the number 1 driver and then suddenly finding out that the other guy is certainly as good, if not better as he is.

It's such a shame that F1 races/incidents etc seem centred around the pit lane. If Alonso has a problem then he should settle it on the track like a real driver !

I can't, I can understand him being unhappy that he's been shown up by a kid in his 1st season in the sport but he's a professional sportsman & should act like 1. He's acting like a pathetic little kid, spitting his dummy out just because somebody else is getting some deserved attention, it's embarrassing. I had a lot of respect for him before the season began but it's completely gone now, there's no need for the way he's acting just because he's used to being the person getting the credit & now somebody else is
