Water Ingress Into Boot And Spare Wheel Well.

 Hi All

I have had my Aygo Black for 5 months and I like it very much.

I have read topics on this Forum of water ingress problems (mostly concerning water in the rear passenger footwell's)

I have found dampness and a mould growing on the carpet in the Boot on the near side.

I removed the spare wheel and found traces of water in the well.

After drying everything out and cleaning the moulded carpet i did a test leaving the carpets out and the spare wheel.

I washed my car in the usual manner, hosing off the dried on dirt, shampooed the bodywork then again hosing off the suds. Drying the body down with a leather.

I then inspected the boot and once again the boot area was flooded on the nearside. :crybaby:

The water is entering via the hinge holes of the fuel filler flap it drains into the car body and finds it's way into the boot :yahoo:

The next time I was it I will try to block off the hinge holes and see if the result differs.

But I will be going back to Mr. T and getting something done about it, hopefully.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problems?

Cheers :toast:

I'm sorry to read about your leaks. If the boot gets totally flooded, there are 2 rubber drain plugs in the base of the spare wheel cavity.

Why should a brand new 2007 car costing £7/8k leak?!

Shameful in this day and age :censor:

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the leak, we had this, if you look back on old threads on this forum there is a lot of information regarding the leak. It took me ages to find but I got there in the end, behind the rear bumper is two vents, bad design but they let in water, if you have the same leak, check the spare wheel to see if it's full of water, if so it sounds like it. If you look at the top of the Aygo accessories forum and look at fitting rear parking sensors the pictures show a couple of vents on the back panel, print it of and have a look or get Toyota to.

Good Luck

Hi All

Thanks for your replies.

I am taking my Aygo into Pentagon Toyota (Doncaster)

After several test the water is entering the boot around the light cluster and not the filler cap cavity hinge holes as I first thought.

Pentagon state they would like my vehicle for a full day and promised a courtesy car without prompting and they say that a new boot mat will also be ordered.

I will post what the results are after the 18th August.

Cheers

Toyota has published a couple of service bulletins for this problem, so the dealer should be able to sort it out quickly.

Can the bulletins be downloaded or linked to?

Thanks for that. Downloaded fine. Looks interesting. I wonder if that's cure the problem.

Hi All

I took my Aygo Black as arranged into Pentagon Toyota (Doncaster) today 24/08/07

I was given a courtesy car a Yaris to use for the day, including half a tank of fuel with unlimited milage totally free for the day.

The leak as PaulSV24 previously stated was comming from one of the vents behind the bumper in my case it was the nearside one.

The repair manager told me that behind the hole is a small flap which is forced open when the boot door is closed, it relieves the inner pressure if all windows are closed.

This flap was sticking in the open position allowing the water ingress by blocking the internal drainage system.

Anyway they released the flap and engineered it so it is more free to operate.

So it is a question now of wait and see if the problem is completely cure, I will be testing it on the next washdown.

I stlll think these are great cars.

Thanks to all who responed and especially Paul24SV who got the problem solved earlier.

Regards

Sam

:D Hi All

Well after one month after the warranty repair to the vent flaps and after a few washes plus heavy rain downpours the interior of the boot in my Aygo remains completley dry.

Best regards
