Rav4 2.0 D4d Cam Belt Change?

Hi,

My father has a 2003 2.0 D4D Rav4 and wants to change the cam belt as it is approaching 60,000 miles. He's a very competent DIY mechanic and wants to change the belt himself if possible. I'm struggling to find any information/service manuals to help him do this for the diesel engine. Does anyone have any tips/links/manuals they can point me towards to help him out?

Many Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard

Welcome to the club.

The entire workshop manual is available on the Toyota Publications website;

http://techdoc.toyota-europe.com/default1....1b-551e80966634

You have to create an account then go to "online subscriptions" and the with the model code which is on a small plate at the bottom of the passenger side "B" pillar (e.g. CLA 30) you can trawl through and download as much as you want for €3 (about £2) per hour.

If you pm me with your email address I have the pdf files for taking the belt off and putting it back on but it does not show all the digging you need to do for getting at it - it assumes the engine is on the bench and it also goes as far as to remove and refit all the pulleys which of course will not be necessary.

If your dad is competent enough he will be able to pick out the bits that are relevent.

Cheers

Couple of the timing pulleys need locating pins ,but i'm sure a cut down drill the right size should do the job :thumbsup: .
