Tns Cd Versions - Help Understanding....

Guys

I have been looking around for a newer TNS 200 CD UK version.

Can anyone help me understand what the versioning is on these disks as I have seen "2.1", also "01-05" listed and am at a loss as to what I should be loooking for to ensure I get a newer map rather than something older!

Also - other than eBay (and the stealer) anyone have a sensible source for maps at a decent price?

My own copy states its V1.4 and Release '00-5.

What do these numbers indicate the release date was?

People have to look to see if they have an answer but can't really give you one if they don't know!

Hi my version is 2.2 & release is 03-04 as far as i am aware this is the last U.K. CD based map available & the 03 is the year / 04 is the month

Think that's the norm...Jo Public knows more about the cars than the dealers.......Never!!!.......

I love playing with them and asking awkward questions just to get them agitated..Make em sweat a bit....

Forums are always a best best to find that obscure unidentified part that you need...

"Most recent Part Number, no update eligible "

Well - a result.... the cd says "00-5" and ver 1.4 on it. That did surprise me as I am sure Ihave seen v 2.1 onebay...

Then your asking the wrong dealer, PM me your vehicle reg or chassis number and I will tell you the latest version. I always go by the date and not version number. They are stupid money, but I can check surplus stocks from the network if you give me the details, Kingo

Kingo - that is great, I wil Pm you later tonight.... WRT dealers, I just feel that most are not interested in Parts - infacet, the only dealer I have ever found that was interested was a BMW/MINI dealer...

Chris - I just re-read your post, and you certainly have a newer version than mine, so heaven knows why the online checker said most recient/no update... Where did you get your map CD?

It came with the complete system i got off e-bay i think its the last cd version (still doesn't have the m6 toll on it)because they went to tns300 about the same time if you get stuck pm me .

DJ I've just looked on eBay and there is a 2004/2005 disc on there & the seller says they have just upgraded to a newer one here's the link.

If you decide to bid ask for a photo or version number first, because i have not seen a newer version than mine before.

Just popped my DVD disk into my pc dvd drive and the notepad file says.........

COMMENT=2004-2005 Ver.2;

So I wonder if there is much difference between that and an assumed COMMENT=2006-2007 Ver.1 ?

Hi folks....

These version numbers are confusing... I guess there must be a version number for the system itself, plus a map version number.

I wonder...has anyone disected the actual disk format? This has been done many times for the BMW platform, so that customisations can be added along with custom graphics, speed cameras etc... must be possible....??!?!?!

I wonder if you can move a DVD map over to a CD - it may be possible... assuming there is room.

Question - will a 300 DVD unit boot and run from a 200 CD version? That would quite a lot. It probably woul dnot as the Os on the CD would probably not support the DVD media/drive etc...
