My New Xtr Delivery Delayed?

My new XTR was due to be delivered to the dealer yesterday 8-8-2007 today the dealer rang (9-8-2007) at lunch time to say that Toyota had delayed the car.

The Dealer will be lending me their demonstrator while we are on Holiday next week this was very (too) easily negotiated.

My concern is that the Dealer put off informing me of the delay until today, surely he knew yesterday it had not been delivered, I wonder if the car has problems been damaged etc?

Had this happen to me a couple of years ago.....Company car failed to turn up......Got call from dealer and they said there had been a bit of a problem.....Car fell of transporter carry it    another 4 week wait......

Yours is properly as they say "An Administrative Error" ;)

I would use there car and not give it back until they have compensated you for there incompetence....at least a free service and valet.....  and worth holding out for 57 plate year as some see this as worth more later on......

I purchased a Rav just prior to last Christmas and I was warned of a delay, in the end all ok. The issue might because the vehicle is imported by ship and there is a possibility of a delayed arrival, nevertheless it would be worth asking for an explanation, or visit the garage and see if any body else is collecting their new Rav!!. Certainly proper explanation is due, talk to the principle.

Thanks all for the advice I will be at the Dealers at 2pm today to pickup the demonstrator. I will keep my eyes open and and play it by ear.

Possible it is admin. error the salesman did seem unsure of himself when using the computerised system.

There will be any number of reasons why your car has been delayed, not just the negatives and scare mongering excuses already made on this thread. Pop in to your dealer and see the sales manager or Principle, and ask what happened. Dates given are usually an ETA, estimated to the best of everybodys knowledge, every link in the chain dependent on everybody else. Sure, it might have fallen off the transporter, or even hijacked for use by the Army in Iraq and converted to a gun boat! but most likely there is some delay with shipping or customs or any other legitimate delay. Before you get yourself all worked up, just ask the question, I'm sure there is a sensible reason. Kingo

My car was delivered on Monday 13th August I will pick it up this Tuesday I have been on holiday all week.

I have been using the Dealers black RAV4 looks good in black but would not want to clean it every day

I have put around 600miles on it during the week and I am very pleased with the performance and comfort of the car.

I do have a some minor dislikes having lived with the vehicle for a week.

1. Water ingress when opening the rear door.

2. No speedo markings at 30, 50 and 70mph.

3. With the tints using the wing mirrors more is a must. Visibility with the tinted rear screen makes picking out dark colour cars difficult in rain and dull conditions.

Number 2 and 3 are really niggles.

During the week on two occasions I overtook Freelanders with ease they were both on rescue vehicles.

Now looking forward to touring Europe later this year in the new RAV.

The speedo was one of the first niggles we found on ours. I drove an American something or other this year and it had a superb idea. It had one scale marked out in 10s and you just pressed a mph or km button and the needle just sprang to whichever you chose. It is simple with an electronic speedo so lets see that Mr T.

Other niggles;

Some switchgear not illuminated

No aux input on radio

The rear brake light lights up the spare wheel (on my XT4)

Notchy gearbox

Fierce clutch (at first)

There is probably others but overall I am very pleased with it and will be keeping it for some time. I would like the higher powered engine but prefer it to be an option accross the range as things like TPMS and run flat tyres don't appeal to me.

Enjoy your "still warm off the press" motor!

Good luck with your new XTR, sure you'll be very happy together.

Personally, I love the side opening rear door on the RAV and I'm quite happy with a little water ingress verses ducking under a raised tailgate. Being taller than average, more than once or twice I've tried to dent the corner of an open tailgate with the top of my head and most of those tailgate turned out to be pretty solid! :ffs: :censor: :crybaby: :(

Happy driving :D
