E12 Reversing Sensors - Experiences Welcomed

Guys,

For some time now, I have been thinking on and off about having reversing sensors fitted at the dealers but it's an expensive business (I think it's around £450) and they do, of course, have to drill holes in my car.

So I'd welcome views on their value and operation, pros and cons etc, from anyone who has these installed already.

Incidentally, do they do front sensors? I've never seen these.

By the way - I'm not an accident waiting to happen, it's just an accessory that intrigues me ;)

Surely you don't have to go back to a dealers for this. Must be plenty of decent companies who can fit a good kit and colour code the sensors to the paintwork for less than £450.

I dont't think Toyota do front sensors but I'm sure a third party can do this.

You'd be able to get it way way cheaper than the Toyota price.

I think Halfords do it fairly cheaply, my mate had some done there and it was a top job, obviously depends on who does it though...

This is an interesting kit that doesn't need any holes or colour coding.

Very easy job to do yourself but i guess it all depends on how confident you are with wiring/drilling bumper etc.

Toyota do the rear sensor kit (tpa400) and front/rear kit (tps800). I have fitted a couple of tpa800 kits to avensis/hilux. These kits are alot mor involved as the sensors are different and there is ALOT more wiring that comes with the kit.

the tps800 kit is alot more expensive than the tpa400 kit too.

I had the TPA 800 fitted to my Verso paid £500( at the time they advertising them for £550 on the Toyota website) for the front and rear sensors well worth the money and would have them fitted again when I buy a new car and as moonstone says there is more to fitting them than you think.

They can give a false reading and it is important to keep the sensor ring clear of dirt.

Why don't you email a few dealers and ask what the best price they will do them for
