D4-d Diesel Motor Loosing Power

I am new to this forum. I am Danish and living in France.

My Avensis from 2000 with the first generation of the D4-D diesel motor (2 litre - 110 HP) has been excellent until recently.

But now is has a problem of loosing power during acceleration. This happens at various revolutions depending of the gear from 2000 – 3000 RPM.

I think the problem resembles the problem of member KevD posted May 1st 2006 with the heading D4-d.

I am considering applying a treatment with FORTE Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment like KevD did before going to the local Toyota garage, but first I would like to here the opinion of more experienced members.

Any opinions will be welcome

If KevD reads this: Is the Advanced Formula Diesel Treatment the same as the product you used and called “FORTE diesel fuel cleaner” ?

Thanks

Steen

The cause of the problem was a blocked diesel fuel filter.

With a new filter the engine runs fine.

Always a good idea to pay a bit extra and use good fuel. Shell diesel is some of the best and if you can get it V-power diesel will give the engine a good clean and maintain lubrication.
