Hi guys,

Does anyone have a spare stand pass as Im going down tomorrow and hate to leave the four in the public car park....willing to pay or join the club etc if 1 can be left at the gate.

Car is nice and clean and ready to go so it wont show you up.

Kind regards

Well I walked round for about an hour trying to find people - found the LOC stand with no one on it and also the Yaris Club stand - again with no-one on it! Was about to go home when a friend found me!

The show was great, but the turnout from you lot was rubbish! I saw Carls SR's Corolla on the Lexus stand but apart from that there was nothing! It was him plus I think 6 Lexus's but I literally could not find any of you guys at all!

After I got found I actually started to have a really good time but there definitely should have been a TOC stand  Does anyone know why there wasn't one as I think at shows like this we need some sort of presence, even if its 6 of us like LOC had....

Well I didn't make it I'm afraid. Got part way there and the clutch on the Celica was slipping badly so decided to turn around rather than carry on and risk breaking down.

I think that's going to be more expense that I can't really afford at the moment. Think I'm going to have to either attempt to fix it myself (which I don't really fancy at all) or else sell up :(

Sorry Em

if i'd have been around i'd have organised a TOC stand,

as me & jerry did it last year and we had a good turn out.

We need to try and make an effort next year, and push TOC back out at these events ;)

you shud have parked on the toyota / lexus stand bcoz it was shared .... i had a spare stand pass

it was a good show but yes we do need more toyota memba's coming to shows

wen i became a member of toc i became one so i could come to events and join in meets but theres isnt really meny that happern and theres loads of events that i dont see y we couldnt have a toc stand bcoz i no ide turn up

and so every one nows i wouldnt mind takin time out to organize club stands at shows so if anyone would like me to do so and with the rite permission to do so i would gladly help

i was there, we waited on the gate for a bit to see if i could see any toc members but didnt see any, did see carls sr driving near the drift arena, see a couple of corolla t sports in the parking area.

I think the main problem has always been people saying they'll come but never turn up.... even with me, Carl & Damo thats three representing a club with thousands of members - even Yaris Club had about 10 cars on their stand....

Like Carl I'll happily represent TOC wherever I can, but it can't just be one, two, three of us showing support at major events like this - we're one of the biggest clubs and yet our turnouts always seem to suck compared to smaller clubs!

I'm not bitter, as I did have a great day out today but it saddens me that there isnt the same camaraderie there once was. :(

i dont no how the club was b4 bcoz i am a new member but it sadens me that there is so meny members on toc and a less of a presence at shows where other clubs like mitsubishi colt that can fill a car club stand and toc carnt even tho there is over 6 models that can attend one club

Posted by me Sept 16th 2007 (When I was the only TOC member to have a car at a pre-arranged meet):

"THIS REALLY IS TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE AND SHOWS THE CLUB IN A VERY POOR LIGHT.......................IN FACT I THINK THAT THIS IS JUST THE LATEST IN A TREND WHERE PEOPLE SAY THEY ARE COMING TO A MEET AND THEN FAIL TO SHOW UP.

You may gather from the above that I am just a little angry at the apathy of some of the club members.

I appreciate that not everyone wants to travel too far for meets, but my round trip was a shade under 200 miles for the Atherstone Show and I received a very warm welcolm from John and the organisers but felt VERY EMBARASSED ON BEHALF OF TOC...............AND APOLOGISE TO HIM FOR THE NO SHOWS

I SOMETIMES WONDER WHY I BOTHER BEING IN AN OWNERS CLUB WHERE MEMBERS DO NOT SHOW ANY SENSE OF COMMITMENT AND LOYALTY TO THE CLUB AND ITS FELLOW MEMBERS.

I feel the time is rapidly approaching where I must consider my future membership of TOC, for without more commitment from the membership, there is not a lot of point to the club.........................................WAKE UP OUT THERE!!"

It would appear that nothing changes..................................I did not commit to the Jap Show Finale this year, because I was not available to attend..........................but several people did.

Hey Guys,

I know I wasn't even down on the list to attend (plus I didn't even know this meet was on until late this week) and couldn't have come anyway but reading the comments above about the sheer lack of members who didn't turn up is awful...now I know I don't post on here all that often anymore and I was with another club for JAE but I still consider myself a member & if meets were a bit nearer to me I'd be more willing to attend as it wouldn't take up so much time & money in petrol :(

Anyway, I do get the feeling that sometimes meets can either a) go unnoticed by a lot of members (as per what I put above) and B*) sometimes people just genuinely don't know what to expect, if they will fit in etc...so maybe if these points were more publicised (if thats the word I am looking for - it's late and brain has stopped working!) and also some members on here did decide to take the bullet and attend then ultimately maybe everyone will benefit..the club for having good turnouts, the members for getting to put "names to faces" and more club spirit may come out of it also...

So, that's my input and I hope that I can attend another meet soon as they are really enjoyable :D

Where has the "commit" word come from? It doesn't seem to me that anyone committed to anything. A few people said they'd probably be going, but I don't believe that constitutes a commitment.

Peoples plans can change. If we had a stall and there were limited places on it then I think the people who take the passes should try their best to be there, but does it really ruin everyone else's day if they don't make it for some reason beyond their control? And if we don't have a stand, then it's just an event that people may or may not turn up to.

Many thanks to Dawesy for helping me out after my diff blew up

Cheers for that dude, i owe you a beer when i next see ya ;)

Awesome weekend!

V8 did a 14.3 with no traction at all. It wheelspan all the way through all 5 gears and passed the finish line still spinning

easy 13sec material if i can actually get the thing to grip, i think i could get her into the 12's with a map :D the thing is still running a base map!

Maybe the word "Commit" may not be the ideal word,...............but when a club member posts that they will be attending a club meet and then does not show,..................that is a lack of commitment to the club.

In your case you had the decency to post up saying about your cars mechanical failure.................(I hope you manage to get it fixed without too much hassle)....................but there is a worrying trend where people say they are going to attend a meet and do not show, or even post a reason why not.

It is very demotivating for the club organisers if this happens. :(

In the case of the Jap Show Finale the stand was a "joint" LOC/TOC stand as we have previously had at Santa-Pod

I was gutted when mine actually went on the way to chester races :( free tiickets and everything down the drain, i really was heartbroken :(

Not making excuses cause i didn't know about this till now but i think the £1 a litre, think i heard someone round here paid £1.07 a litre!! doesn't help people. with 2 more price rises before April. Soon will be time to sell the car for a bike :(

i was there but due to being uncertain about attending at first i didnt order tickets etc, i managed to get a standpass at the 11th hour with a local club and was on their stand.

did find the toc/loc stand but there was only carlsr's car and some lex's on there.

BTW rolla ran a 12.1 with me lifting in second gear cos of loss of traction defo an 11 in it.

Nice one Lee

your times are defo getting better :D

I hope you manage to get [your clutch] fixed without too much hassle

Thanks mate; I think it could be terminal unless I can get a decent price on it. I've spent so much on that car and can't go on doing so forever without serious grief from her indoors. And I had a new clutch on the MR2 already this year, so paying out for another one so soon is a sickener.

On a brighter note. Well done Lee! Wish I'd been there to see it.

Good stuff!!!

I was also spinning through all the gears, although I was only getting up to 4th. ran a disapointing 15.1 :(

well i was there over the weekend but i was with my club Yaris Club uk. with these meets the only way you can really gaurantee attendance is to keep asking members and reminding them of the show. The week before i was double checking and tripe checking that people could attend. plus i didnt book a stand too big just incase people didnt turn up. i booked it for 10 cars but unfortunatly about 13 people turned up so there wasnt enough room. that way you are more likely to get more people attending. the main reason people wont be on the stand is cos there is alot more things going on at the event that everyone wants to see. its not like JAE where you sit on stand and have a chat and a drink. but all in all it was a good weekend and i got to meet a few people i havent seen for a while ei leeky, karma and dawesy
