Hi,

I have a 2001 1.8 vvt-i Avensis. I am having major hassle with my engine management light. The light came on a few weeks ago, took it in for a diagnostics, the Garage replaced Sensor 1 Bank 1. About 20 miles down the road, the light came back on!. I took the car back, the garage informed me that it was showing a faulty Cat. I had the cat replaced, and wouldnt you adam and eve it. About a week later after I had been driving for about 40 mins, the light returns!. The fuel consuption, before the first sensor was replaced was shocking!, afterr the sensor i was getting about 32 - 39mpg. That still hasnot changed although it appears to idle at about 900 -1100. Has any body encountered any thing like this befre? I have seena few posts in the forum but they all seem to be on the newer models. Any help or guidance could save my sanity!

Thanks

Thanks Silver,

I have it booked in on monday for Toyota to have a looksie and re prog the ECU. The oil consumption seems okay, However i have only just strted monitoring. I'll keep you posted. i think the lambda sensor they changed did need changing because they gave me the old one back, it is very white. Just really hope thie ECU re programming works, I'm at boiling point with the silly thing (and my bank manager must think i have shares in toyota, it appears on my statement that much now!) .

Hay ho, again thanks for the response, and I'll let you know how it goes on Monday.

Cheers

Baz
