Fuel Cap For Rav4 Petrol 1996

Hi to you all

a new post from a new and very happy Rav4 owner (Great car, that does everything I hoped it would)

didn't notice that the car is missing its original petrol cap so I need another to replace the temporary one fitted

I'm guessing it would be the same as most other Toyota's of its year but as I'm not near a scrappy to try a few, does any one else no the facts please?

I called the dealer and they wanted 22quid so I would prefer to recycle an old/unwanted one

Thanks in advance

H

Welcome to the club.

I would have thought that any from a similar era with a petrol engine would be worth a try but make sure the ratchet clutch works (it should click when you over tighten it).

Sometimes the seals dry out and they leak a bit so if in any doubt just cough up for a new one. Most dealers will give you 10% discount if you ask. Were hoping Kingo will give us 90% when he is up and running!!!

Enjoy your new motor.

Cheers

Hi H and welcome to the club  .

I would have to agree with Anchorman, better buying a new one its not the type of part

to risk using an old one that might be dodgey. Try some of the aftermarket places you

might get a suitable one a bit cheaper.

Enjoy your Rav.

Cheers,

Dave

Have you thought of the dreaded H? (Halfords). Or another motor factors, They might be able to supply a locking one for less then Mr. T's standard one!

Eeeew Halfords?...........This is a different cap to most types, part number T77310-35080 £22.28. You need the right type these days for MOT purposes, gone are the old plug in types that would push fit to anything. Get to your dealer. Kingo

PS sorry nearly forgot, its the same as a Four Runner, Landcruiser 90 series, and Picnic models (ALL PETROL)

Thanks for all the replies will see if I can find a healthy second hand one, if not then 22 quid it is. I cant be bothered with a locking one as the flap puts most off

cheers h
