Valve Clearences?

Hi,

i own a 2002 Rav 4 2.0 D4D. My question is, can the tappets be manually adjusted or are they shimmed or Hydraulic?

any information would be appreciated.

The 1CD-FTV engine valve clearance adjustment is shimmed.

Cold Clearances are intake: 8 to 12 thou (0.20mm to 0.30mm), exhaust: 14 to 18 thou (0.35mm to 0.45mm).

17 shims available in 0.05mm increments.

It would appear you need to remove timing belt cover, injection pipes, cylinder head cover and injectors. When I had a 4.2 D4D, I did think about checking mine, but chickened out.
