Water In Spare Wheel Well. 2002 Corolla T-spirit

Hey guys,

I have a 2002 Corolla T-Spirit. I recently discovered a large ammount of water in the spare wheel well (up to about 1/4 full). The carpet of the boot on both sides is dry and undamaged. However there are small patches of rust on my spare wheel now and I'm starting to worry.

I'm planning to lock myself in the boot and get someone to spray water at it. Is there any where in particular I should be looking? Has anyone had this problem before? For the moment I have removed the 2 bungs in the well to stop the build up of water but it is not really the solution I want!

Manky Thanks

Rob

Check that the rear lights are firmly secured in place, and check the rubbers around them. I had a similar problem in my e11 corolla and that cause was the drivers rear light was loose at the top so the seal was not working so water got in and lodged in the wheel well

I think I might have found the plroblem... Just under the drivers rear light cluster on the inside there is an air vent. There are four clips to hold it in but 2 were not. So I just pulled them in and that seems to hve sloved the problem. I was gunna post a pic of it but I can work out how!

Thanks!
